The Centro di Documentazione Ebraica Contemporanea (Center of Contemporary Jewish Documentation; CDEC) is an autonomous cultural and historical institution in Milan, which is working for promoting the cause of study of the events, culture and the circumstances of the Jewish with reference to the modern times. The CDEC was formed in 1955, by the efforts of the Italian Jewish Youth Federation. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a roof covered double arcade consisted of two glass-vaulted arcades at right angles intersecting in an octagon, is mostly visible from the northern side of the Piazza del Duomo in Milan, and joins it to the Piazza della Scala. Named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of united Italy, it was actually designed in 1861 and was constructed by Giuseppe Mengoni as between 1865 and 1877.
