There are many wonderful things to say about Hotel Nuovo – considering its price, it is truly a gem, and the service is great. I have requested a quiet room via e-mail, and I received it; the views were not something to brag about, but there was no street noise; my bags were delivered to my room by the front desk attendant, who was a very helpful host throughout my whole stay; for example, he went to a nearby restaurant to get a screwdriver to open my bottle of wine. My room was spacious and I had a bathtub; certainly it is not a modern squeaky clean plastic paradise hotel, but it had some ambiance, the bed was comfortable enough, it had free wi-fi internet in the room, it worked very well; the location is as center as Rosa Grand (5 times more expensive), 3 min walk to the Duomo. My purpose was to attend to La Scala operas, and to visit museums, I was alone and for my purpose the hotel was ideal, considering what it provides for its rate.
Negative:
There was really no negative surprises; for everyone’s information, the hotel does not have an elevator, no fridge in the room, no breakfast provided; it is quite spartan and I would not spend my honeymoon there. It is tricky to lock the door from the inside. Safety is overall in an old-fashioned sense, and I would not recommend the hotel to those who require absolute security with electronic keys, window alarm and so on. The shower in my room was part of the bathtub, with no curtain. The pillows were hard. But again, for 70 euros a day it is still a true bargain. I would definitely stay there again if I need to visit Central Milan. I must also note that when I stayed, the weather was perfect, so I cannot comment on the quality of the air-conditioner or a heating.

Hotel was basic but clean (and made no pretence to be anything otherwise, I should say). The superb location and the very friendly staff made up for the very simple but adequate facilities.

Negative:
Everything is very basic which is ok for this kind of price, but you shouldn’t develop any expectations. There is no breakfast. The room isn’t too comfortable and clean (I moved a chest of drawers and there was a lot of dust behind it).
Positive:
The relation price / location is very good. Very near to the Duomo. Though it had no breakfast there are many bakeries nearby for a cappuccino and a croissant.

The location is perfect – right in the heart of Milan’s shopping. To be fair, even though I haven’t rated this hotel highly, if you want an economical place in the heart of Milan this may be good for you. Compared to other places that we stayed in, I felt it was overpriced for what it offered.
Negative:
Room was very small with basically just a bed a small desk. The shower curtain was hopeless at keeping out water and so the entire bathroom floor was flooded every time you had a shower. No lift so you had to carry anything you bring up stairs. Not great when you are on the second floor with 25kg each to carry.
Positive:
Location. It was central and easy to locate.
Negative:
The hotel is great if you don’t plan on being in your room much. Fine quality if you are on the go and need budget hotel in great location.

Location was great being a block from the Duomo.
Negative:
The hotel had poor service. The bathrooms had the showers directly in them, so water got everywhere, including the room. And, they only gave me a bunch of dirty towels to put on the floor. The air conditioner also dripped water everywhere.

The location cannot be better.

It was noisy over the night because of street cleaning services.
