This Italian city is spread over a large area but its transport system is very fast, cheap and efficient. These agencies can easily be found at the airports. Traffic in this city is very heavy, especially, during the peak hours and drivers tend to drive very fast. When you rent out a car, it is important to remember that you are supposed to drive on the right side of the road and can only overtake on the left.
Taxis are also available if you do not want to drive yourself around Milan. This is a very popular way for most people to travel in the city especially when they are on business. Milan has 3 subway lines that are numbered 1 to 3. These underground trains provide visitors with a quick, cheap and easy way of traveling. The entrances which are usually near the stops are labeled with a large white letter ‘M’ that has a red background. The trains run from six in the morning to half past midnight.
The public buses in this city are orange in color while the tourist’s ones are green. This is one of the busiest modes of transport in Milan and gets very crowded especially when it is rush hour. The tickets are bought before you get on the bus and are available at various news stands, coffee shops, ticket machines or booths, metro stations or even at some of the stops.
